Learning to create a sweater unique to one's individual preference of color, fabric, style, and fit is the goal for this class. Skills taught include swatch preparation, pattern reading, pattern adaptation, preparation of or comparison with schematics, pattern tracking, knitting in the round, transferring stitches to waste yarn, avoiding and correcting mistakes, knitting with anticipation of finishing, options for cast ons and bind offs, picking up stitches, shaping techniques including short rows, making a steek, finishing bands, buttonholes, button selection, sewing buttons, blocking and care instruction. Student has choice of any sweater pattern that is knit from the top down direction using raglan construction. The instructor is available for consult regarding pattern and appropriate yarn selection.
