Let's get you started with your first lace shawl. It's the Ashton Shawlette and you will learn all there is to make you a fearless lace knitter. Your resulting project is perfect to show off at those summer weddings or cooler evenings around the fire pit.
Skills taught include principles of lace knitting, stitches used to add lace effects to fabric, reading, tracking and maintaining your place in lace charts, preventing and correcting mistakes, blocking and finishing.
You should be comfortable casting on and making a knit and purl stitch.
Materials required: 400 to 700 yards of fingering (sock weight) yarn; 1 32-40" long circular needle US size #5 (3.75mm) A metal needle with a smooth join and sharp tips is recommended; routine knitting supplies such as locking stitch markers, tape measure, blunt-tipped tapestry needle, and scissors or yarn snips.
2 sessions are scheduled for Tuesday May 31 and June 14, 7-9pm.
Cost $75.
We will enjoy a social hour prior to class starting at 6 pm. Feel free to bring your dinner or even snacks to share. There is a kitchen with refrigerator, stovetop, and microwave at our facility
